I never gave Fred Nuamah my blessings to contest Ayawaso West, this is a betrayal – John Dumelo

Actor-turned-politician John Dumelo has refuted reports that he authorized his friend and fellow politician Fred Nuamah to run for the NDC parliamentary seat in Ayawaso West Wuogon.

According to him, Fred Nuamah went to select the forms despite knowing he would run to represent the seat one again in the 2024 elections.

Appearing on UTV's United Showbiz, he refuted charges made by the CEO of the Ghana Movie Award that he (Dumelo) did not tell him about his "second coming" and did not give his blessing.

politician-turned-actor John "I never gave him my blessings and I never told him in the face that 'Fred I am not coming back (to Ayawaso) so you can go there'. He claimed, "I never mentioned that, never in any conversation at all.

"He phoned me two months ago and said he had heard of my comeback and was willing to assist my desire to come back," Mr. Dumelo said. On February 3, he attended my birthday, and later that evening, he distributed his flyer.

Mr. Nuamah, according to Mr. Dumelo, afterwards sent him a lengthy note outlining his reasons for also wishing to run for office.

But, the Ayawaso West Wuogon 2020 NDC parliamentary candidate stated, "I claimed then that I never informed him I wouldn't return back therefore whatever blessings did I give?

"Especially for someone I've known for more than 20 years, I think this is a betrayal and a knife in the back. I didn't want to talk about it, but following his words, I felt the need to. He lies, Mr. Dumelo continued.

This comes after politician-turned-actor Mr. Nuamah stated he was surprised by Mr. Dumelo's "u-turn" following his announcement to run again for the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat despite prior pledges that he wouldn't.

Yet, the 2020 NDC p According to Mr. Nuamah, the 2020 NDC candidate for the constituency notified him and other people that he would no longer run for a parliamentary seat in the Greater Accra Region, according to an interview with graphic entertainment.

He offered me his blessings when I decided to run, Mr. Nuamah said, adding that he won't back down in the battle.

The CEO of the Ghana Movie Awards stated, "I would have preferred him to follow his word when he said he won't fight the seat and, thus, throw his support behind me."

However, Mr Dumelo insists that no such interactions happened saying “does he deserve my blessings?”

Mr Dumelo is confident he will win the NDC primary, especially since he believes the delegates and constituents want him back.
